Tax Inclusive Accounting
Tax Inclusive Accounting allows you to record transactions where the tax amount is included within the item price (inclusive pricing), rather than added on top (exclusive pricing).
Inclusive vs Exclusive Pricing
- Exclusive: Item price = SAR 100, VAT (15%) = SAR 15, Total = SAR 115
- Inclusive: Item price displayed = SAR 115, VAT (15%) included = SAR 15, Net = SAR 100
Setting Up Inclusive Tax
- Go to Accounting > Settings > Accounts Settings.
- Enable the Show Inclusive Tax in Print option.
- In the Sales Tax Template, check Inclusive in Tax if tax is included in the price.
How It Works
When a tax template is marked as inclusive:
- The item price entered is treated as the total (including tax)
- The system calculates the net amount and tax amount automatically
- Both the net and tax amounts are displayed on the printed document
For Saudi Arabia, B2C (consumer) transactions typically use inclusive pricing, while B2B (business) transactions may use exclusive pricing.
Example Calculation
- Item price entered: SAR 115 (inclusive)
- VAT rate: 15%
- Net amount: SAR 115 / 1.15 = SAR 100
- VAT amount: SAR 100 × 15% = SAR 15
