Journal Entry Template
Journal Entry Templates save time by pre-defining the accounts, amounts, and descriptions for recurring journal entries. Instead of building a journal entry from scratch each time, you select a template and the accounts are pre-filled.
Creating a Journal Entry Template
- Go to Accounting > Journal Entry Template and click New.
- Enter a Template Title (e.g., "Monthly Depreciation", "Prepaid Rent Amortization").
- Select the Company.
- Select the Entry Type (Journal Entry, Contra Entry, etc.).
- Check Is Opening if this template is for opening balances.
- Add rows with:
- Account: The account to debit or credit
- Party Type and Party (optional): Customer or Supplier
- Cost Center (optional)
- Click Save.
Using a Template
When creating a new Journal Entry:
- Click From Template or select the template from the dropdown.
- The accounts and amounts from the template are pre-filled.
- Adjust amounts, dates, or descriptions as needed.
- Save and Submit.

- Monthly depreciation entries
- Prepaid expense amortization (rent, insurance)
- Accrued expense entries
- Salary provision entries
- Monthly VAT adjustment entries
- Recurring bank charges
