Stock Settings
Stock Settings contain global configuration options for inventory management. These settings control how stock is valued, how items are identified, and how stock movements are processed.
Access from: Stock > Settings > Stock Settings.
Key Settings
Item Naming
- Item Naming By: How item codes are generated (by Item Name, by field, or auto-naming series).
- Default Item Group: The default item group for new items.
- Allow Negative Stock: Permit stock to go below zero (not recommended for most businesses).
Valuation
- Valuation Method: FIFO (First In First Out) or Moving Average.
- Default Inventory Account: Default account for stock valuation.
- Allow Negative Stock Valuation: Allow negative valuation resulting from stock adjustments.
Batch and Serial
- Automatically Create Batches: Auto-generate batch numbers for batch-tracked items.
- Manage Serial No and Batch in Purchase Cycle: Track serials/batches during purchasing.
- Manage Serial No and Batch in Sales Cycle: Track serials/batches during sales.
Stock Transactions
- Set Qty in Transactions Based on Serial No Input: Determine stock quantities by how many serial numbers are entered.
- Tolerance for Stock Reconciliation: Allowable percentage variance during reconciliation.
- Action on Quality Inspection: What happens to stock when quality inspection fails.
Reorder
- Enable Reorder Level: Set minimum stock levels that trigger reorder alerts.
- Default Reorder Notification Recipient: Who gets reorder notifications.
Freezing
- Allow Stock Entry to be Edited: Allow editing of submitted stock entries.
- Role Allowed to Freeze Stock Transactions: Restrict stock freeze to specific roles.
Setting Default Warehouses
You can set default warehouses for different purposes:
- Default Warehouse: General default for all transactions
- Default Incoming Warehouse: For Purchase Receipts
- Default Outgoing Warehouse: For Delivery Notes
